Welcome

Welcome to my first blog.  I am Emma Camp, a coastal loving, diving addict, wannabe underwater photographer and early-career scientist.  I am currently a Ph.D. student at the University of Essex, England and my thesis topic is: Variability in Carbonate Chemistry and its Implications for Coral Biology and Resilience to Ocean Acidification.  I also work as a researcher at the Central Caribbean Marine Institute on Little Cayman.

Since an early age I have had a love for the ocean and the diversity of life it supports.  Born and raised in Essex England, people often ask how I got into coral reef biology.  My love for the ocean and coral reefs stems from my childhood travels with my family.  Our family adventures opened my eyes to different cultures and allowed me to experience firsthand the natural beauty of the Earth’s oceans.  Ever since I have wanted to learn more about marine life and find ways to conserve its biodiversity and beauty.

Coastal and Coral Culture is a place to share my love for coral reefs, coastal living, travelling, photography, research and conservation.  I hope you will join me in my adventures and hopefully learn a thing or two along the way.  I would love to hear from you so please get in touch if you have any questions or comments.

Enjoy the Journey!

Emma
